The Text for Writing

Most of us have, at some point or another, made use of a diary to record the daily events – whether these were the struggles or the mountaintops. Writing has the ability to take you away from the reality of you surroundings. More so, it gives you the ability to make sense of what is going on in and around you.

No matter what the reason is for writing, it is a matter of getting something productive going. Whether you are writing a report, an essay, a diary entry, or a massive project such as a book, it is a definite step away from who you are in the moment.

If you write a report, for example, you are required to look at the issues from a distance to be able to capture the events or projects in its entirety. The same applies to a simple diary entry. You are conversing with that which is outside of yourself at the time. This means that you are able to look at your problems or your victories from a different angle.

These factors instil within you the healing processes, even if you are not fully aware of them. The reason is that the words that are written down give it substance, texture, and eventually a perspective. This is especially to deal with matters in a different way. It is also very helpful if you do not wish to share your feelings and your thoughts with anyone (as with a diary).

The words that we write down give us the ability to ask hard questions as well as give hard answers (even though the answers are not always possible). You are able to look at a piece, re-read it later, and re-work it as well. All the negative aspects that you address are especially helpful if these are channelled and processed to the point of possible total relief and healing.

There are various ways of writing to make your healing complete. Some of these have been mentioned already. You could make use of:
  • Blogging – this is a more public way of expressing yourself and it can be helpful to others who have the same struggles as you have.
  •   Journaling – I think this is slightly less private than a diary as it can express more of your struggles through art, writing, poetry, and various other types of writing.
  •  Keeping a Diary – this would be more private as here you can talk to yourself about the deepest and darkest moments of your life – these are the aspects that you do not want others to read about.
  • Article writing – this is often seen as just a means of earning a few dollars here and there. However, the research you do on these articles often lead you to parts of your life that you might need answers to. In doing research on a particular topic, you might stumble upon something that you might be struggling with at a certain point.
  • A final way of writing toward healing is to write a book. This might seem like a daunting task, but you could use the above information, restructure it, and find that you have quite a story to tell the rest of the world. The writing of books has changed a great deal, and many opt to write e-books for others to download. It is, however, still possible for you to have you book published as a regular book.

The importance is that you lay down the words regardless of what it is that you need to say. It will touch an aspect of your life that might need a tweak or a bit of healing or a great deal of healing.
